My Clinical Background

I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan and have experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. Throughout my training, I have gained experience with culturally diverse populations in a variety of treatment settings, which include higher education (career centers), intensive in-home, and community mental health settings. I particularly enjoy working with adults and helping them navigate the unique challenges faced throughout adulthood. Please continue to read for information about my approach to therapy.

My Counseling Approach

I believe that no matter where you are starting from -- transformation is possible. This means that, as your therapist, I work to meet you where you are and utilize a strengths-based approach. I use a culturally-sensitive, intersectional lens and subscribe to an integrative theoretical orientation -- drawing mainly on Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Attachment Theory to guide me in helping you move toward (re)establishing mental health.

Research indicates that therapy is most successful when it happens within the context of a strong therapeutic relationship. Therefore, my goal is to work toward creating an atmosphere rooted in safety, openness, and mutual respect, in which we are able to address your presenting concerns. Ultimately, within the safety of a strong and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, I will work with you to develop new ways to cope with life's challenges and to reach your goals.
